Service Description

A+ Learning Center Language Art Level K (HonorPK-Common Core K) curriculum meets following standards and benchmarks: Phonics and Vocabulary Acquisition: 1. Able to decode novel CVC words based on word families. 2. Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllable, and sounds (phonemes). 3. Demonstrate knowledge of letter sounds, and both long and short vowels. 4. Able to apply word analysis skills in decoding words. 5. Able to recognize and use the first 100 sight words in reading and writing. Reading Comprehension: 1. Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print. 2. Read emergent-reader texts with purpose and understanding. 3. Able to ask and answer questions about key details in a text. 4. Able to retell the stories with key details. 5. Identify characters, setting, and major events in a story. 6. Actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding. Writing: 1. Able to construct novel sentences based on simple formulas, and later super sentences including descriptive detail of characters, action, location, time, and reason with guidance and support. 2. Able to write about and state an opinion or preference about the topic. 3. Able to name what they are writing about and supply some information about the topic. 4. Able to narrate a single event or several loosely linked event. 5. Able to use capital letters, use punctuation, and leave space between words correctly.
