This course provides guidance and focus for our students' SSAT/ISEE preparation and training. Explain the specific skills and the most effective strategies required for the test to help students improve vocabulary acquisition, reading comprehension and test-taking ability.

A+ Learning Center SSAT/ISEE curriculum covers the following contents:

  • Elementary Level SSAT - For children currently in 3rd and 4th grades who are applying for admission to 4th and 5th grades.

  • Middle Level SSAT - For children currently in grades 5-7 who seek admission to grades 6 through 8.

  • Upper Level SSAT - For children currently in grades 8-11 who are applying for admission to grades 9 through PG (Post Graduate).

  • SSAT/ISEE Intensive Summer Prep Course

 Verbal : (Synonym, Analogy, Sentence Completion)

  • Demonstrate command of the knowledge of word relationships, and nuances in word meanings.

  • Distinguish among the associations of words with similar definitions/denotations.

  • Acquire and use accurately academic and domain-specific vocabularies.

  • Understand the meaning of words and how they are used in sentences.

  • Choose the word or words that best complete the sentence based on the context and logic of the sentence and meaning if the word and words.

Narrative and Descriptive Writing

(Creative Narrative, Personal Statement, Real-Life Experience, Hypothetical Scenarios)

  • Write creative narratives to develop imagined events.

  • Orient the reader by establishing a situation and introducing the characters.

  • Organize an event sequence naturally.

  • Use narrative techniques to develop experiences and events.

  • Convey reactions in creative and personal narrative writing.

  • Use a variety of transitional words/phrases to manage the sequence of events.

  • Use appropriate words and sensory details to convey experiences and events.

  • Expand the main topic with reasonable subjects.

  • Support the main idea with appropriate reasons, examples and/or experience.

  • Manage to plan, compose and proofread writing in given time.
